Immediately author Amanda Shittim plays on the mysteriously tantalizing nature of New Orleans. Capturing the beauty, the underbelly, the aromas, and the filth. Using this setting Shittim plays off each contradictory piece in creating a pace, and tone for this read. Down to the characters, every part of this read was delicately crafted as they slowly draw ever closer.

One job changes it all, what Tessa Lane thought would be an easy gig changes the course of her life. As a private investigator, still trying to make it Tessa doesn’t have the luxury of being picky. But, when she follows a target into the shadows, the burner phone she discovers sets off a chain of events she couldn’t have foreseen. Warned against pursuing this further, Tessa doesn’t trust the mysterious and elusive Dominic Steele. His motives are unclear, and yet with her life on the line, she has no other options.

Shittim creates an alluring and unorthodox pair as our P.I. is forced to place her trust, and life, in a stranger’s hands. Tempting intrigue and a provoking mystery surround the phone in Tessa’s hand, but is it worth the job she’s been hired to do? “Dangerous Shadows” holds an enticing plot, shrouded amongst the dark corners of New Orleans, as Tessa goes on the run with a stranger to survive.

This quick novella excites readers for more from Shittim as her enthralling characters and compelling plot pull us ever deeper. Giving us just a taste of what she has to offer, “Dangerous Shadows” leaves us craving a future for our unlikely pair.
